Citrus Hack 2016 Winner for Best Use of AWS
Internet of Things (IOT) device which connects to your car's diagnostic port. The device uploads the car's data
to your account on our R2-OBD2 web service. With this data in the cloud we are able to provide the user with
useful information regarding their cars. The user can access this information through Amazon's Alexa voice service.
This project was created during the
Citrus Hack 2016 hackathon hosted by the
University of California, Riverside. Due to the inherent time constraints of hackathons, we opted to not implement
the CAN bus protocol. Instead we created an Arduino car with a basic odometer. We used the Particle Photon to read
the odometer from our "car" and then upload the data to our service.
There are plans to flesh out the service's APIs and also to create Android/iOS apps and a web page for the service.
